Dear Rutgers Colleagues,
We are pleased to extend an offer of State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) enrollment to you and your eligible dependents. Under the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 hours or more per week are entitled to medical and prescription drug benefits. Please note that the ACA does not include dental benefits coverage. Our records indicate that you meet or exceed the 30-hour threshold and are now eligible to participate.
If you already have medical coverage and would like to continue with your current plan, no action is required. If you wish to enroll in the SHBP, please access the BenefitSolver tool to complete your enrollment before December 31, 2021. Please follow the steps below to complete your enrollment and begin coverage by January 1, 2022:
- In order to access the BenefitSolver tool, you must first sign up for a MyNewJersey portal account. If you have problems creating an account, please contact New Jersey OIT support at https://www.nj.gov/mynj/myNJRestrHelp.html.
- Once you are logged in to the portal, scroll down until you see the button marked "Access BenefitSolver" where you can self-register. If you have problems with BenefitSolver tool, please utilize the support service within the application.
You can estimate the cost of your health and prescription drug coverage using the online State Health Benefits Program medical and prescription drug coverage premium estimator available at https://www.horizonblue.com/shbp/plans/2022-premium-contribution-calculator.
If your employment status changes in the upcoming year or if you fall below the 30-hour-per-week threshold, you may become ineligible to continue participation in the SHBP beginning January 1, 2023.
If you have questions regarding your benefits, please contact the OneSource Rutgers Faculty and Staff Service Center at 732-745-SERV (7378) or at OneSource@rutgers.edu.
Sincerely,
Vivian Fernández
