Leadership Training with The Citizens Campaign

Dear Colleagues,

I am very pleased to announce that Rutgers University will offer free leadership training to our university community. The training, developed by the non-partisan Citizens Campaign, features 10 short videos with accompanying chapters from a citizen leadership manual, published by Rutgers University Press.

It is designed to train members of the community in No Blame, Pragmatic Problem-Solving skills and provide opportunities for them to put their training to use as pragmatic “citizen leaders,” working to better their communities and our country. Participants who complete the training will receive a certificate in Leadership and No-Blame Problem Solving.

I invite you to enroll in this free, self-paced course. Participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate solutions to determine if they are practical, evidence based, and cost effective
  • Use “No Blame Problem Solving” in professional contexts such as government, the corporate world, and nonprofit service
  • Recognize citizens’ rights to access public records and participate in government at local decision-making power centers
  • Identify leadership roles citizens can take to offer their service and leadership without running for office

To register, please visit the Leadership and No-Blame Problem Solving Certificate website. For questions related to accessing the course please contact helpdesk@thecitizenscampaign.org.

This offering is part of a larger partnership between the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University–Newark and The Citizens Campaign. To learn more, please visit the partnership webpage or contact David Sherwin at david@thecitizenscampaign.org.

I hope this development opportunity will inspire you to reflect on how we can all contribute to the betterment of our communities and our country.

Sincerely,

Vivian Fernández
